How is Pickleball Different from Tennis and Padel?
-
- Court Size: Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court (smaller than tennis but larger than padel).
-
- Equipment: Uses solid paddles (larger than table tennis paddles but smaller than tennis racquets) and a lightweight plastic ball with holes.
-
- Game Style: The game is faster-paced than tennis but with less running, as the court is smaller. Unlike padel, walls aren’t used in play.
-
- Serving: Pickleball has an underhand serve, making it easier for beginners.
-
- Scoring: Games are usually played to 11 points, but only the serving team can score.
Basic Pickleball Rules
-
- Serving: Must be underhand and crosscourt. Only the serving team can score.
-
- Double Bounce Rule: The ball must bounce once on each side before players can hit it in the air.
-
- The “Kitchen” (Non-Volley Zone): Players can’t volley (hit the ball in the air) while standing in the 7-foot zone near the net.
-
- Scoring: Games are played to 11 points, and you must win by 2 points.
